When Stone Soup classics first started on GoComics I didn’t enjoy looking at them... old art makes me cringe. But as it’s played out over the last couple of years I’ve been enjoying them more and more. I like remembering what was going on for me at the time...
Looking at today’s Stone Soup classic I remember being enthralled with the artwork of George McManus. You can see one of his classic patterns in Gramma’s dress. At the time I was writing Gramma as a much more old-fashioned (and snarky). McManus created Bringing Up Father in the 30’s Art Deco era...and his artwork was amazing.
