Before we rush into the gift-giving season, my favorite holiday is just around the corner. Thanksgiving, the simplest of winter holidays, involves my favorite things — friends and loved ones, and wonderful food — and none of my least favorite, holiday gift shopping.
So color me grateful right now, for these 6 things...
- The opportunity given to me 22 years ago to become a syndicated cartoonist. It changed my life.
- My partner, husband and best friend Ted, who has been with me through all the ups and downs of career and family life, with calm and most importantly, our shared sense of humor.
- My strong, amazing daughters who are living purposeful lives and have blessed me with three sweet grandsons.
- My hometown of Eugene, Oregon, where I can really be ME.
- My wonderful friends, starting with Val (for whom I named my main character), the dear friends who have loved and supported me for so many years, and of course my poker club. Not sure what I did to deserve them all, but I'll take it.
- Last but never least, all of YOU, my fabulous fans, who have made my cartoon life so enjoyable.
But of course, once Thanksgiving is over, we launch into the gift-giving season. If you, like me, have trouble coming up with ideas, let me suggest a gift of Stone Soup, food for those in need of a humor lift.
AKA, all of us.
This year's holiday book signings in Eugene, Oregon are:
December 7 • 4-6pm • Eugene Register Guard Media building in the atrium
December 9 • 10-5pm • Author / Artist Faire • Lane County Fairgrounds Atrium, next to Holiday Market. This event benefits the Lane Library League.
I'll have a good selection of titles including the newest...
... and as always, you can get Stone Soup books through Amazon and other online booksellers, or ask your local bookstore to order them for you. If you can't attend a signing, you can order autographed books through my publisher's website, FourPanelPress.com.
