Life is quiet in a summertime way right now... less email and computer time, more swimming. The most common question a cartoonist is asked — "Where Do You Get Your Ideas?"— can be answered by these photos from my summer so far. My family and friends continue to thoroughly inspire my upcoming cartoons.
The Stone family (aka Johanna and Alec) will make it to the beach this year...
You'll see Max (aka Asa) snorkeling with Alix in her magic baby pool...
You'll see Val swinging across this scene in August...a classic Oregon swimming hole. And it's just 40 minutes from my studio to ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Happy Summer everyone! Now go outside.

Hi Jan, we're up at our awesome family cabin on Odell Lake, right above the viewpoint on Hwy. 58; 3 miles from Will. Pass. Love the strip; my big boys went to Roosevelt & South Eugene ten years ago (Theater-tech program heads). Younger son & daughter are at North Eugene/ Madison Jr. High.
Anyway, I've got a great idea for you: My dad, Gary (grandpa) has been dead since '93, but he's never left the cabin (so I guess you could say we're "haunted"). All of the kids have had some great "Grandpa" stories concerning his presence here at the cabin (items found, seeing & feeling a kindly presence, etc.). Not scary or creepy, just wonderfully comforting! Would love to have you come visit anytime, and feel free to use the idea if it works for you!
Keep writing, thanks, Peggy Grimler.
