Which brings me cheer today when it is raining, hailing and dark as night at noon. An me with dogging deadlines. Then again, the weather keeps me at the drawing table. Back to work!

Timeless Writing

Every now and then a newspaper has an upcoming opening on their comics page and runs some test strips to see what readers might like as a replacement. Rarely do we know that this is happening in advance, so rarely do we get to pick the strips that will run. It's a gut wrencher!

But there is a rumor that I will be tested somewhere soon, and in anticipation of the possibility, I'm trying to "write my best stuff". Now, isn't that a sure recipe for writer's block?

I hope not. Anyway, if you see a cartoon poll in your paper, do me a favor. Read the stuff and let the newspaper know what you like. Cartoonists everywhere are counting on you!  And, if you want to vote for MY strip in particular, please, run for the phone, computer, twitter machine. Yes, I said twitter machine.

The Morning After

What an amazing thing happened last night. I'm still addicted to the news and what the pundits have to say, and am looking forward to watching the Obama presidency unfold. Most of all, I'm so impressed that we Americans finally came back to really participating in our democracy. The Obama campaign captured the youth vote and inspired a new generation to come forward.
